Frequently Asked Questions
This technique entails using a thin, sterile, disposable blade that deposits pigment into the dermal layer of the skin which results creating crisp individual hyper-realistic hairstrokes mimicking the appearance of real hairs to accentuate a more defined, neat to fluffy finish.
Microblading is considered to be PERMANENT and will not wash off.
However, it will fade over time and may need a touch-up every 1-4 years.
Frequency of touch-ups depends on a number of factors including: the pigment color used (lighter colors fade faster), sun exposure, iron deficiency , and if any chemicals or skincare with active ingredients come into contact with treated areas.
Please note that final results can not be guaranteed as each unique skintype will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. The tattooed hair strokes tend to have a more crisp look once healed on dry skin compared to more blurry strokes on oily skin. Most oily-skinned clients do well with a combination of strokes & shading, called a Combo brow or Powder Brow.
Yeksenia will re-evaluate how your skin has received the pigment at your touch-up appointment
and make any changes necessary.
Touch-ups are normal for cosmetic tattoo procedures, with each new procedure requiring 2+ visits. The initial procedure is followed by a touch-up procedure 6-12 weeks later.
Please note that the client is responsible for booking their own follow-up appointment and can book those appointments at any time within the 6-12 week timeframe.
Please let us know of any medical conditions or allergies you have BEFORE booking an appointment, as this may disqualify you for the procedure, or we may need to source different products or change the procedure for your service. This includes all allergies, food, environmental and otherwise that MUST be stated on your intake paperwork.
Things that may DISQUALIFY you include

Please contact Yeksenia for details BEFORE booking! Clients who are not a candidate due to an item listed above, and come to an appointment anyways will be charged 50% of their service and turned away.
You are not a good candidate for Microblading if you have very thin, aged or mature skin, extremely oily skin, or very large sebaceous pores. These clients will have less than ideal healed results and are more suited for a combination, ombre, or powder brow done with a machine. Please contact Yeksenia and send a photo of your bare skin if you are unsure.
Oily Skin: increased oil production can cause hair-strokes to blur and heal lighter and powdery.
Smoking: smokers may notice that their cosmetic tattoo will fade faster or turn cooler.Anemia and Iron Deficiency: Your body may absorb the pigments more quickly.
Sun Exposure: Increased exposure to the sun will cause premature fading and pigment color alteration.
Age and Metabolism: The faster your metabolism, the faster the pigment will fade.
Bleeding during the procedure: Excessive bleeding during your appointment will greatly affect how your body retains pigment. While this is not entirely in our control, it is important that you follow pre-care instructions to minimize bleeding. This includes avoiding blood-thinning medications, alcohol, and caffeine before your appointment.
Skin Treatments: Chemical peels, lasers, topical retinoids, anti-acne, exfoliating, and anti-aging products will cause the pigment to fade prematurely.
Please allow four hours to complete your initial appointment.
Please allow four hours to complete your 6-12 week touch up. Please ensure you allow enough time for the procedure as Yeksenia will not rush to perform your cosmetic tattoo.
Pain tolerance varies per individual, however you will be numbed multiple times during your appointment to keep you comfortable. Two different topical numbing agents are used; one is used before the actual procedure, and the other is used throughout the procedure. On a scale of 1 to 10, Microblading is a 1 or 2 for the average person; some clients fall asleep. Having the procedure during your menstrual cycle may increase your sensitivity.
Unfortunately, Yeksenia is not able to accept many clients with previous eyebrow tattooing or permanent makeup/microblading by another artist, even if it was done several years ago. Any previous work must be removed or 80% faded. Anyone who shows up to an appointment with unapproved previous tattooing will likely be turned away and charged the cancellation fee. Please send a photo to info@yekseniasantospmu.com if you are unsure if you qualify before booking. All clients with previous work from another artist will be charged as a Corrective Brow Cover Up, unless explicitly told otherwise.
